Kenneth Paul “Ken” Sandmoen

In loving memory of Kenneth Paul “Ken” Sandmoen, aged 82, of Fort Frances, Ont., who passed away suddenly on Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances., Ont.
Ken is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Beverly Sandmoen of Fort Frances, Ont., his special granddaughter, Melissa Ogden, of London, Ont.; brothers Stanley and wife Bev Sandmoen of Dryden, Ont., and Walter Sandmoen of Rainy River, Ont.; sisters Gladys Fraser of Ashcroft, B.C., and Clara and Joseph Marr of Victoria, B.C., and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter Sharon in 1965, brothers Lloyd Sandmoen and Wilbert Sandmoen, and by one sister charlotte Ernest and his parents Charles and Mabel Sandmoen.
Ken was born on June 17, 1 917 to Charles and Mabel Sandmoen in Rainy River, Ont. He spent his school years there and worked odd jobs until enlisting in the Royal Canadian Army for World War II. He served overseas for the majority of the War returning back to Rainy River in 1947.
He was united in marriage to Susan Miller on May 12, 1947. He joined the Canadian National Rail and worked with them for the next 30 years. The railway brought them to Fort Frances in 1959. Ken was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and restored a 1930 Model A car. He was a generous person who enjoyed helping others.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
