It is with great sadness that the family of Ken Morrison announce his sudden passing on January 11, 2024, at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Ken was born in Fort Frances, Ont., on February 14, 1955, to parents Joan Calder and Albert “Hat” Morrison. Ken’s passions were music and family. He was known for his teasing, playing the guitar, love of hot dogs, and his many trips to concerts, most especially WeFest.
Ken had a huge heart and committed much of his life to being a helper. He worked as a counsellor at Weechi-it-te-win Family Services for many years supporting children and youth. He was also known for helping many with their sobriety. Ken enjoyed his movie nights with his buddies Pete Bruyere and Buddy Loyie and attending the UNFC Men’s Group alongside his brother Richard.
He is predeceased by the love of his life Donna; his parents Joan and Hat; sister Loretta; brother Dwayne “Chief”; and nephew Joel.
Ken is survived by his brother Richard; children Brandy Hulett (Chris), Shannon Jerry, Kevin Jerry (Barb), Shane Jerry; grandchildren Shayla, Kiara, Fiona, William, Ashlie, Melissa, Joshua, Ashlyn, Katlynn, Shaylynn, Bud; many great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews Ann Marie Craig (John), Reo Walton (Mandi), Roger Morrison, Joanie Morrison (Steven), Bobby Morrison (Janelle) and Elaine Walsh (Craig). He will also be missed by many aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends.
We invite you to join us for a service and celebration on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Couchiching First Nation Multi-Use (Gym). A luncheon will follow.
Pallbearers will be Roger Morrison, Kevin Jerry, Ed Calder Sr., Joshua Swire, Bobby Morrison and Ed Natawance. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrel “Dobbie” Klyne, Dwayne Johnson, Connie Calder, Sharon Ewen, Albert Calder and Pete Bruyere.
A celebration of life for Ken was held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Couchiching Multi-Use facility from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
