It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ken Martin announces his passing on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Ken was born on Feb. 4, 1935 to Beatrice and George Martin. He grew up in the Township of Blue along with his brothers and sister.
On Feb. 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Julie-Anne Ronne until her passing on Oct. 17, 1986. He then married Madeline Hutchins (Legaree) on Nov. 27, 1987.
Ken started his working career with CN, where he worked as a machinist helper and later becoming a machinist. He then moved on to working for the Boise Cascade paper mill until his retirement in 1993.
He also worked for Modern Plumbing and Heating during that time.
Ken was involved with the Elks Lodge for many years, at one time becoming the Exhaulted Ruler.
He always could be found at garage sales looking for anything he thought his family could use. He also enjoyed going to the DQ with his coffee buddies and tinkering in the garage.
He always was there to lend a helping hand.
Ken is survived by his wife, Madeline; children, Susan, James, and David, and step-children, Judy, Beverly, and Murray, and their families, including many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and George; his former wife, Julie; an infant daughter; sons, Leonard and Gordon; siblings, Tommy, Hazel, Donald, and Robert; infant sister, Ruby; stepson, James Hutchins; and step-granddaughter, Denise.
He also was predeceased by several brothers- and sister-in-laws.
Cremation has taken place.
A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, Ont., with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
The pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren.
Everyone is invited to a luncheon immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to Fort Frances Community Chest or the charity of your choice.
