Keith Daniel Preston, 67, of 15 Evergreen Dr., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully with his family by his side at home on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010.
He was born May 9, 1942 in Guelph, Ont. to the late Herbert and Maria Preston.
Keith, along with his two brothers and sister, were raised in Georgetown, Ont. From there, he moved to Mitchell’s Bay on Lake Sinclair, where fishing was steps away.
He later moved to Chatham, Ont., where he met Helen. Keith and Helen were united in marriage on Aug. 30, 1991.
From Chatham, the family moved to Blenhiem and then to Erie Beach, where he once again was steps from his passion for fishing and hunting.
Once retired, Keith and Helen moved to Fort Frances, where Keith enjoyed the quiet of a small town as well as resuming his passion for hunting, boating, and fishing as well as stock car races.
Keith is survived by his wife, Helen Preston of Fort Frances, Ont..; and children, Amy and husband, Dean Tabakos, of Georgetown, Ont., Lynda and husband, Michael Wood, of Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., Helen and husband, Scott Punnewaert, of Chatham, Ont., Mary Lauchlan of Edmonton, Alta., John Bueckert of Fort Frances, Ont., Ike Bueckert of Edmonton, Alta., Agatha Bryant of Blenheim, Ont., and Cory Bueckert of Chatham, Ont.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Madelyn, Stephanie, Emily, Kendra, Megan, Alexa, Stephanie, Christopher, Dainna, Brian, Robert, Nicole, Laura, Matthew, Evelynn, Benjamin, David, Brittany, and Bailey; and great-grandchildren, Gwenyth, Caitlyn, Tristan, Hayden, and Logan.
He also is survived by his sister, Betty Anne and husband, John Bowes, of Georgetown, Ont.; three nieces, Marie Bowes, and Susan and Roberta Preston; and one nephew, Brian Preston.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Herbert and Robert Preston; and two sons, David and Pete Bueckert.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Marcel Chenier officiating.
Cremation took place at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn., with interment to follow in Pinewood Cemetery at a later date.
Family and friends visited Wednesday from 2 p.m. until service time at Green Funeral Home.
The honourary pallbearers were Ike Bueckert, Rob Sinclair, John Enns, Isaac Schroeder, Aaron Schroeder, and John Schroeder.
