Katrina (Katie) Fedoruk, 87, of 158 Sixth St. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
She was born Oct. 26, 1916 in Fort Frances to the late Thomas and Mary Yurchuk.
Katie moved to La Vallee for a few years until her marriage to John Fedoruk on Sept. 6, 1936. Following their marriage, they moved to Fort Frances, where she had lived since.
She loved her yardwork, gardening, and latchwork.
Katie is survived by one daughter, Catharine Melynchuk of Aurora, Col.; one son, George Fedoruk and wife, Kim, and their daughter, Natasha, of Wawa, Ont.; three grandchildren, Sherry Edwards, John Fedoruk Jr., and Leah Dube; and four great-grandchildren, Alex Edwards and Rachel Edwards of Aurora, Col., Alexandria Fedoruk of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Kaine Dube of Windsor, Ont.
She also is survived by one sister, Mary and husband, Robert McKelvie, of Washington state; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Fedoruk on Feb. 23, 1998; and three sisters, Lena Yurchuk, Anne Gunderson, and Dora Belluz.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Marietta Marshall officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
Friends may visit with family Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Honourary pallbearers will be Katie’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
