Kathryn (Kathy) Marjorie Beauchene (nee Advent) passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday July 28, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 6, 1960 to John and Marjorie Advent in Fort Frances, Ont.
She attended Morley Central, Barwick, Riverview, and Fort Frances High Schools. She worked at Greens in Nestor Falls, Ont., as well as the Red Dog Inn, Kuppers, Wilson’s, and A.J. Fabrics.
She met the love of her life, Dennis, in Nestor Falls and they were married on June 9, 1984. They just recently celebrated 30 years of marriage.
She was a member of the Oxdrift Women’s Institute, the Dryden Artist Association, and the Sunset Country Quilters Guild. She was extremely talented as an artist and a sewer.
She never went anywhere without her sewing machine—even to the hospital, where she fixed the zipper on Dennis’ pants.
She enjoyed spending time at the cabin, fishing, and swimming. She also loved to dance and play walleyball with friends.
She volunteered at the tuck shop at the hospital and Grace Haven. She also played darts at the Go-Getters.
Kathy’s laugh was instantly recognizable, you knew when she was in the room. She loved to laugh and to make people laugh.
She also was a good story-teller. She maintained a positive outlook on life right to the end.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Dennis; mother, Marjorie Advent; sisters, Janice (Ian) and Vicki (Gareth); brother, Howard (Lori); nephews, Andrew and Kris; brother-in-law, Gary (Carole); sister-in-law, Diana (Terry); nieces, Christi (Steven) and Pam (Paul), and Patti; and nephew Todd (Diane).
