KATHLEEN DOLPH (PETERSON)

Kathleen Dolph (Peterson), 66 years old, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away August 25, 2025, at LaVerendrye Hospital with family and loved ones by her side, after a two year journey with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Kathy’s journey was touched by angels having some of her favourite nurses and doctor supporting her, also the love and compassion that her home care workers showed her on this journey. Up until the end Kathy maintained her love for people, family, friends, and animals.

Kathy had a way of making you feel emotionally safe with her glittering eyes and infectious smile. Kathy was born in Fort Rooker, Alabama, moving to International Falls by the age of 19, meeting the love of her life at the Fort Frances Bowling Alley. She started her family with a precocious baby girl (Christal) moving to Red Water, Alberta, and finished her little family with a beautiful boy (Dj).

The family moved back to Fort Frances where her husband (Don) started his career for CN Railroad while Kathy stayed home to raise the children. Kathy had many hobbies, and loved to craft. She never just tried something, she put her everything forth, from sewing, knitting, pretty punching, cross stitching, scrap booking, making jewelry and so much more. Kathy had a huge heart when it came to animals, moving to a small hobby farm in Emo, Ont., having dogs, cats, rabbits, a goat, sheep, chickens and her favourite turkeys. The small baby turkey went from sitting on her shoulders to following her for a walk in the field to the Christmas dinner feast. Every Wednesday, the family loved coming home to the smell of fresh buns and bread being made. From there the family moved to Atikokan and her children got older and started families of their own. Kathy and her husband made the choice to move back to Fort Frances to be close with her grandchildren. Kathy got to experience being a small business owner to a party stop/craft shop called “This And That.” There she loved chatting with customers, and would hold scrap booking sessions at the old CN station hall. Kathy made some beautiful creations and would sell them at craft shows now calling her home business “Kathy’s Creations.”

Kathy’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, she loved spending time with them, doing crafts, baking, countless camping trips, and sitting around the fire.

She leaves behind her husband of 46 years Donald Dolph Sr.; daughter Christal Dolph (Kevin); son Donald Dolph Jr.; Onalee Derksen (Tyler) who was like a daughter; her grandchildren Charles Dolph, Danielle Drennan and Alexandra Drennan; her brother Jerry Peterson (Tara) and sister Pam Turner.  She had many nieces and nephews. Also her pugs that she adored, Sparky, Starla, and Sweet Pea.

Kathy was predeceased by her dad Charles Peterson; mom Ella Peterson; brothers Clifford Peterson (Emma), Eddy Peterson; sister Patti Blassingame; and grandson Billy Drennan.
