KATHLEEN BUCKSHOT (nee ADAMS)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Kathleen Grace Buckshot.
Kathleen was born April 9, 1937 to Robert and Alice Adams at Couchiching First Nation. She attended St. Margerite’s Residential School until the age of 16.
Kathleen was united in marriage to James Buckshot in 1958. Together, they had five children who were siblings to Kathleen’s oldest son, Leroy Adams.
Kathleen lived in Rainy River First Nations for many years until moving to Fort Frances, Ont. After her children were grown, Kathleen followed her desire to travel and over the years lived in many different cities, however, eventually returned to her home community.
Kathleen enjoyed spending her time playing Bingo and was a familiar face at the Couchiching Bingo Palace. She also often would be seen walking or riding her bicycle.
Kathleen maintained her active lifestyle until she became ill in 2011.
She had a kind and compassionate disposition, and always was willing to listen to family or friends. Kathleen’s greatest love in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Kathleen was predeceased by her parents; siblings; husband, James Buckshot; and three sons, Leroy, James Jr., and Wesley.
She is survived by her sisters, Mable Lyons and Gladys Guimond; one brother, James Windigo; daughters, Cheryl (Norman), Janice (Cam), and Denise (Tom); as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
