“Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad.
It’s the middle that counts.”
An integral part of our family circle is missing; and it will never be the same again. With unparalleled sorrow, we must inform friends and family that Katherine Laurie Broski (McLeod) passed away very suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017.
Kathy was the second daughter of Alex and Ethel Broski, born on Sept. 15, 1960. After having lived most of her life in Atikokan, Ont., she moved to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1997 to be with her soulmate.
Kathy was the office manager for her dad’s business in Atikokan for most of her career. She knew where everything was, what needed to be done, and where everything should go. She loved that job, and excelled at it, as she was very social and loved to be with people.
She also thoroughly enjoyed her time working with the Fort Frances Lakers hockey team.
Unquestionably, Kathy’s priority in life was her two sons, Jordan and Tyler. Every decision she made and every action she took centred around her dedication and love for them.
Kathy adored the two special women in her life, her daughters-in-law, Callie and Cyndy; women who she knew filled her sons lives with happiness.
The word “proud” doesn’t begin to explain her feelings for her family–she absolutely beamed when she spoke about them. Being a Grandma was Kathy’s true joy and she lived for the times she shared with them. She created every opportunity she could to spoil her family.
Kathy had 20 amazing years with her husband, Tim McLeod. They truly enjoyed each other’s company, laughed a great deal, and particularly cherished their road trips across Canada and the U.S., visiting both family and friends.
We, Kathy’s family, are left now to treasure the remarkable times we shared together: husband, Tim McLeod; sons, Jordan (Callie) and Tyler (Cyndy) and amazing grandchildren, Brooks, Vaughn, Koen, and baby girl to arrive this December; parents, Alex and Ethel Broski; sisters, Linda (Garry) and Paula (Gary); nephews, Darren (Crissy), Jamie (Kristen), Gregary (Sasha), and Brady; great-nephews, Nathan and Finn; great-niece, Hannah; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her sense of humour and love of practical jokes made our lives better. Kathy’s contagious, mischievous grin continues to make us smile and will be one of the things we always will cherish.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests in memoriam donations be made to the Town of Atikokan-Arena Fund, P.O. Box 1330, Atikokan, Ont., P0T 1C0 (please specify in honour of Kathy McLeod) or the charity of your choice.
