It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing, with family present, of Katherine (Kay) Rogoza, 86, into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Born Nov. 10, 1919 in Gardenton, Man. to the late William and Domka Pohaychuk, Katherine married John, her sweetheart and love of her life, on Oct. 9, 1939. Katherine spent her early years raising her three children and assisting her husband, John, in the restaurant business.
She was a warm, kind, and affectionate lady who contributed to her community, devoting countless hours to St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian Women’s Association.
Her love and care also was placed in her fine cooking, and she excelled in the baking of “Kolachi” (Ukrainian braided bread), which she generously shared with family and friends.
She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.
Most importantly, Katherine directed her heart and passion toward serving the Lord as evidence by her many years of dedicated service with her husband, John. The love, comfort, and prayers she provided over the years will be missed, and yet cherished by all who knew her.
Katherine was predeceased by her husband, John Rogoza in 2004; one great-granddaughter Ashlee; one sister, Sophie Andrusiak; and two brothers, Mike and Nick Pohaychuk.
