Katherina (Kay) Gushulak, of Kamloops, B.C., passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 79 years of age.
She is survived by her loving husband, Nickolas; children, Carol (Ken) Churchwell and Julian (Dianne) Gushulak, all of Heffley Creek. B.C.; and grandchildren, Wendy (David) Fera, and Christopher Gushulak, Melanie Norton, David, Vance, and Sally Gushulak, and Scott Truelove.
Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, William Gregorchuk, Matt Gregorchuk, Elsie (John) Mandzuik, Sophie (Nick) Kraynyk, and Rita (Ken) Fingler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Kay was born in Sundown, Man. on April 9, 1926 to Matt and Mary Gregorchuk. She married Nick on July 23, 1945 and they celebrated their 60th anniversary this spring.
In 1945, they moved to Fort Frances, Ont., where Kay worked for 15 years at Ontario Hydro.
Nick and Kay retired and moved to Kamloops in 1983.
She was a 53-year member of the Ukrainian Women’s Association of Canada and enjoyed cooking at the Ukrainian Hall with the other women. Kay enjoyed the lake in Ontario, where they had a cabin.
She also loved going blueberry-picking each summer, gardening, and taking long drives in the back woods with Nick.
Kay was the most patient and loving wife and Baba, and her family adored her.
Mom passed away, in the arms of her loving husband, without pain and without blame. We love you.
Prayers will be recited Monday, July 18, 2005 at 7 p.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Of All Saints, 1044 8th St., Kamloops, B.C.
The funeral service will take place Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 10 a.m. at the Church, with Rev. Roman Tsaplan officiating.
