KATHERINE HALVORSEN

Katherine Halvorsen, 76, of Emo, Ont., passed away at the Port Arthur General Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. on Monday, June 7, 1999.
She was born July 14, 1922 in Blackhawk, Ont. to the late Alex and Gladys Ross. Katherine lived in the Blackhawk area most of her life, and on Sept. 5, 1940 was united in marriage to Al Wilhelm Halvorsen.
She devoted her life to her husband, Al, and to the four children they raised. For enjoyment, Katherine liked to read and play cards, and when possible, pick berries.
She loved to visit with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who would often stop in and visit. She also loved to cook for her entire family on many special occasions.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Delbert and Norman Ross; infant brother, Danny; brother-in-law, Herb Summers; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Ross, Muriel Ross, and Odell Ross,
Katherine is survived by her husband, Al Halvorsen of Emo, Ont.; daughter, Judy Armstrong of Fort Frances, Ont.; and three sons, Danny Halvorsen and wife, Carol, of Kakabeka Falls, Ont., Terry Halvorsen and wife, Diana, of Nestor Falls, Ont., and Doug Halvorsen and wife, Eila, of Emo, Ont.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Wade Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Guy Halvorsen and wife, Chrys, Cory Halvorsen, Todd Halvorsen and wife, Diane, and Patti and husband, Richard Kelly; six great-grandchildren, Mathew, Katherine, Bharat, Jessica, Krysten, and Aaron; three brothers, Gordon Ross, Sid Ross and wife, Eva, and Don Ross and wife, Delores; two sisters, Irene and husband, Murray Donnelly, and Margaret Summers; sister-in-law, Muriel Ross of London, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 1 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, Ont. Rev. Frances Flook will officiate, with interment in Chapple Cemetery in Barwick, Ont.
Pallbearers will be Katherine’s grandsons, Wade Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Todd Halvorsen, Cory Halvorsen, and Guy Halvorsen.
