We sadly announce the sudden passing of Karen Mosbeck, 73, of Fort Frances, Ont., on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. with her family by her side.
Karen was born June 13, 1942 in Fort Frances to the late Harry and Muriel Cooper.
She was united in marriage to Cecil Mosbeck on Aug. 12, 1962. Together, they welcomed three boys into their lives: Barry, Duff, and Sheldon, which were their pride and joy.
Once the boys grew up, Karen took on the role as baby-sitter for many children; her heart overflowing with care.
As time went on, the boys got married, all in 1991, which made for a busy year for both her and Cecil. Karen welcomed her first grandchild, finally a girl. Rebecca quickly formed a special bond with her Grandma.
She also had a special relationship with her grandsons, Nicholas, D.J., Ryan, and Tyler.
Together, Karen and Cecil took on the grandparent role, never missing hockey games, dance recitals, Christmas concerts, and any other activities their grandchildren were involved in.
As the grandchildren grew, Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed their family vacations to Valley Fair and Disney World, as well as the yearly camping trip to Abram Lake Park in Sioux Lookout.
Karen was thrilled to welcome her two great-granddaughters, Karsyn and Sawyer; every visit shared with excitement and love.
Karen always put everyone’s needs before her own, and that quality made her loved and admired by all. Outside of spending time with family, she enjoyed her weekly coffee outings with her close friends.
Karen will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Karen is survived by her husband, Cecil; sons, Barry (Susan) and Duff (Rochelle); grandchildren, Rebecca (Dylan), Nicholas, D.J., Ryan (Jennifer), and Tyler; and great-grandchildren, Karsyn and Sawyer.
Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Dale (Mary) Cooper and Rick (Myrna) Cooper; brother-in-law, Bill Mosbeck (Armond); sister-in-law, Patricia MacDonald; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Karen was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Muriel Cooper; youngest son, Sheldon; sister, Marilyn Shine; brother-in-law, Melvin Mosbeck; and sister-in-law, Elaine Bekesi.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous in Fort Frances.
Cremation has taken place.
A private family interment will take place in Sheldon’s grave in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
