With broken hearts, the family of June (“June Bug”) Blanche Hughes, nee Perry, want you to know June passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 in Delta B.C.
June was 85 years young, surrounded by her family as she left this Earth to join her husband, Doug Hughes; son, Perry Hughes, sisters, (Marjorie) Midge Johnson and Mary (Kip) Ducharme; brothers, Lloyd Perry, Stanley (Joe) Perry, and George Perry; and her parents, Harvey and Annie May Perry (Ducharme).
June was born April 14, 1929 in Chapple Township, and lived in Fort Frances, Atikokan, and Thunder Bay, Ont. and Delta, B.C.
She raised seven children, went to college to study retail sales, and worked at Marks & Spenser, Pennington’s, Kresge’s, and George’s Market in Thunder Bay.
Surviving with deep feelings of love and loss are June’s brother, Clarence (Cork) Ducharme; sons, Robert Hughes (Darlene) and Chris Hughes; daughters, Karon Kaminski, Jane Smith (Bob), Wendy Hughes, and Brenda Hughes; many nieces and nephews; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
June’s dedication and love of her family bonded everyone together. June held us children close as we struggled our way through life’s challenges, supporting, guiding, and cheering each one of us as we grew.
June will be missed with tears and smiles by the many.
A memorial celebration of life will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services (Fraser Heights Chapel) in Surrey, B.C.
Internment in Thunder Bay to be held during the summer of 2015, as well as a celebration of life.
