JUDITH (JUDY) ANN PLASKY

Judith (“Judy”) Ann Plasky, nee Monrean, passed away Thursday, Jun 7, 2012 at her residence in Fort Frances, Ont. with her family by her side.
Judy was born Sept. 23, 1946 in Fort Frances to Mary and Jack (John) Monrean.
In the early 1960s in International Falls, Mn., Judy was a member of the first girls’ organized hockey team in the nation. She later graduated from Falls High School in 1965.
Judy attended the Grand Rapids Area Technical School and worked for Dr. Whitman in International Falls. She also was employed as an X-ray technician for Dr. Shermach in International Falls and the Fort Frances Medical Centre.
She also was employed at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances and cleaning at the U.S. Customs building in International Falls.
Judy loved to spend many hours in the blueberry bush. She was known for her blueberry picking (when we go blueberry picking, we know she will be right by our side), as well as her cooking and baking abilities (padaha/perogies and cabbage rolls).
She always had baked goods sitting on the table whenever anyone would stop by for a cup of coffee—you never walked away hungry.
She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband, boys, and grandchildren. She also loved to take trips with her grandchildren, Daniel and Montana, to visit her sister, Beverly, and her son, Steven, and family in southern Minnesota.
Judy always will be remembered for her giving and caring ways. She always thought of others’ needs and interests before her own.
Judy was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Jack (John) Monrean; grandparents, Annie and Julian Welechenko and Delia and Grover Monrean, and her father- and mother-in-law, John and Mary Plasky.
Judy is survived by her husband, John Plasky; sons, Steven (Kris) Plasky and Michael (Nora) Plasky; and grandchildren, Shem, Rachel, Alex, Aaron, Abby, Johannah, Lydia, Micah, Daniel, Montana, Mathew, and Dakota Plasky.
Also surviving are her brothers, Dennis (Shellie) Monrean, Randy (Carol) Monrean, and Steven Monrean; sister, Beverly (Dani) Lind; sister-in-law, Darlene (Clint) Clark; brother-in law, Larry Plasky; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 1631 First Ave. E., International Falls, with Rev. Larry Connors officiating.
A reception followed at the church.
The honourary pallbearers were all of Judy’s grandchildren.
