JUDITH ANN LOUISA READER (nee BEBAK)

It is with great sadness that the family of Judith Ann Louisa Reader announces her passing on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the age of 78 in the City of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Judy was born on February 18, 1947, to Fred and Eleanor Bebak in Toronto, Ontario. She had fond memories of growing up in Winnipeg, playing card games with her brothers, taking the bus to the market, and free ice cream from the factory where her mother worked.

Hobbies that Judy enjoyed throughout her life included judo, scrapbooking, baking, and being out in nature. In her younger years, Judy loved to travel. She fondly remembered her trips to Hawaii and The Bahamas, as well as her trips later on in life to the Yukon and across Canada.

On December 18, 1971, Judy married the love of her life, John Reader, becoming a dedicated wife and then mother of two. John and Judy eventually settled their family in Fort Frances, Ontario. After years at home caring for her children, Judy returned to work at what was previously known as Fort Frances Family and Children Services, until her retirement.

Becoming a Granny / Nana brought Judy tremendous joy. She was so immensely proud of her grandchildren and always ready with a hug and an ‘I love you.’ She would do almost anything for her grandkids except touch the pet snake. The countless batches of cookies and baking she lovingly provided her family and friends every Christmas will bring us warm thoughts and smiles for years to come.

Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband John; and her brother Dennis. She is lovingly remembered by her children Patrick (Marsha) and Christie (Ryan); her grandchildren Michael, Patrick, Mikailla, (Tucker), Benjamin, and Sadie; and her brother Keith (Helen). She will always be in our hearts.
