It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the peaceful passing of Joyce Smith (Morrison) on the afternoon of Sunday, October 4, 2020 at La Verendrye Hospital. Joyce was born on August 1, 1962 in Rainy River, Ontario.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Isaiah, Teresa (Darren), Darcy (Delano), Shae-Lynn (Rhyse), Crystal and Shantell (Theodore). Her beloved grandchildren Ayla, Halle, Dayelyn, Danika, Emery, Will, Aiden, Nita, Theodore and Emma. Siblings Barbara Reardon (Ashton), Donna Prince (Terry), Karol Lofgren (Dale), Liz Detweiler (Wally), Reggie Morrison (Louise), Robert and Tim Morrison. She will also be missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends that are too many to name.
She was predeceased by parents Donald and Bessie Morrison; son Glenn Smith Jr.; brothers Donald and Freddie Morrison; and grandson Kyle Smith.
Joyce often put many before her, as she was such an amazing grandmother, and mother. She loved her family fiercely and protected them with what she had. Being with her daughters, son (Isaiah) and grandchildren brought her such great happiness and filled her with joy.
She had a great sense of humour and loved to give a helping hand to those in need, she often reached out to many to simply see how they were. Each time she was out in public, you could find her visiting, as she would know many around her.
She was an amazing athlete, you could find her playing fastball proudly alongside her daughters and good friends. She played and excelled in many sports among them were broomball, ringette, baseball, hockey and horseshoes. She will definitely be remembered for her athleticism and her love for the games.
She will also be remembered by her community for putting her greatest efforts in being an emergency first responder for her many years of service. She loved her job as a youth worker in her day where she had helped many youth in the community and loved them just as much.
Finally, Joyce would most definitely be remembered for her great faith. She often enjoyed attending church services and loved praying. She would often share her faith with whomever she could.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions.
