It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Carol Joyce Munro on Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 73.
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Joyce passed peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Joyce was born on Feb. 23, 1944 in Owen Sound, Ont. to Morell and Thelma Laycox.
Her family moved to Dance Township, Ont. in 1950. In 1962, she moved to Black Hawk, Ont., where she remained on her “homestead” for 47 years.
In 2013, she moved to Fort Frances, Ont., where she lived until her passing.
Joyce’s greatest treasure was her family, who she always went above and beyond for. Family gatherings were especially important to her, whether for holidays or just a weekend at Bass Lake.
She enjoyed cruising in her car (“the white lightning”), gardening, and travelling.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Donald; and children, Lorna (David) Strom, Linda (Brent) McQuaker, Marvin (Sondra) Caul, and Wes (Diane) Caul.
She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Joyce also is survived by her “Sisser,” Christine (Gordy) Busch; brother, Marvin Laycox; brothers-in- law, Keith Munro, Jack (Dean) Munro, Jim (Mary) Munro, and Bill (LaVerne) Caul; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Lorne Caul (1971); grandson, Tyson Caul (2014); her mother, Thelma Laycox and father, Morell Laycox; mother- and father-in-law, Clarence and Ruth Caul and Jim and Emily Munro; sisters-in-law, Janice Ross, Betty Munro, and Dorothy Laycox; and brothers-in-law, Fred Munro and Tom Van Drunen.
Family and friends were received on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, with Pastor Sheldon Savage officiating.
Interment took place at the Emo Cemetery.
The pallbearers were her grandsons, Tyler McQuaker, Brad Caul, Dwayne Strom, Trevor Strom, Ryan Caul, and Kyle Caul.
The honourary pallbearers were her granddaughters, Amanda Wilson, Ashley Morrison, Karly Caul, Melissa Mendoza, Kayla Strom, Alayna Caul, Amy Caul, and Korissa Delf.
