Joyce Major, 91, of Rainy River First Nations, Ont., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016 at the Emo Health Centre in Emo, Ont.
Joyce was born on Nov. 11, 1924 in Emo to the late Ben and Irene DeBungee. She had lived all of her life in Rainy River District.
She enjoyed playing cards, picking berries and rive, and in her younger days helping her husband, Joe, in the bush.
She also enjoyed listening to her family play music.
Joyce is survived by her brother, Roy (Gladys) DeBungee, and nephews and nieces, Bradley (Paula) DeBungee, Theresa DeBungee, Candice DeBungee, and Wes DeBungee, all of Rainy River First Nation.
She was predeceased by her husband Joe Major, and parents, Ben and Irene DeBungee.
A traditional burial ritual will be held Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Rainy River First Nations gymnasium.
Elder George Boshkaykin will officiate, followed by interment at Rainy River First Nation.
A wake will be held on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 from 3 p.m. at the Rainy River First Nations gymnasium.
The pallbearers will be James Eastman, Art Hunter, Derek Horton, Gordon Medicine, Cal Bombay Jr., and Les Martin.
