Josette M. Koss was born Dec. 16, 1923 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Gaston and Mary (Godin) Camirand. She passed away at her home in Warren, Ore. on May 26, 2008 at the age of 84.
She was educated in Canada and graduated in 1940. She married Alfred Koss in 1946 in Fort Frances, who predeceased her in 1987.
They moved to International Falls, Mn. Then in 1967, they moved to Vancouver, Wash., then on to Reedsport, Ore., and finally St. Helens in 1973 until present.
She was a homemaker and very active in St. Frederic Catholic Church. She was a member of the women’s group, the administration council, and the church bazaar.
She also was an artist and had a deep devotion to the Lady of Fatima.
Survivors include her children, Randy Dixon of Warren, Nanette Koss of St. Helens, Laurette McCleskey of Milwaukie, Ore., Pete Koss of St. Helens, Jeannine Phelan of Boring, and Mary Fawcett of Warren; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her siblings, Mavis Dick and Jean Camirand, both of Fort Frances, Ont., and Jeanette Kruger of International Falls, Mn.
A funeral mass was held Thursday, May 29, 2008 at St. Frederic Catholic Church in St. Helens.
