Josephine Margaret MacKenzie (nee Sutherland) passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont..
She born Sept. 23, 1924 in N. Oxford Township, Banner, Ont. to George and E. Ruth (Facey) Sutherland.
She was the wife of Allan John MacKenzie; and mother of Allan John MacKenzie (Judy Bonter) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Jane MacKenzie of Thunder Bay, Ont., Blair MacKenzie (deceased), and Nancy Parkin (Terry) of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Grandmother of Scott MacKenzie (Jaime Stefanson) of Calgary, Alta., Heather MacKenzie of Calgary, Alta., Kara Parkin of St. John’s, NL, Kyle Parkin of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Cindy Wood (Brian) of Vancouver, B.C.; and great-grandmother to Samuel John and Matthew William MacKenzie of Calgary, Alta., and Ashley Wood of Vancouver, B.C.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Ruth Sutherland; brothers, Kenneth Sutherland (Ida Lovett) and MacKay Sutherland (Dorothy Empey) of Putnam, Ont.; husband, Allan MacKenzie; son, Blair MacKenzie and grandson, Tyler MacKenzie; and Allan’s sisters, Alyce Corrigan (Robert), Evelyn Wenzel (Robert), and Margaret.
There will be a private family burial at Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances, Ont., with a Scottish piper.
Friends are invited to join the family for a come-and-go tea on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to ALS or the Riverside Foundation for Health Care.
