JOSEPH ‘JOEY’ RONALD GODBOUT

Joey Godbout, 46, of 415 Third St. E., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly Monday, May 3, 1999 in Kenora, Ont.
Joey was born Dec. 29, 1952 in Fort Frances, Ont., where he also was raised. In his younger years, he worked in the bush logging and, in more recent years, was self-employed as a contractor doing carpentry and painting.
Joey also loved to work with young children, teaching them music and being an encourager to them. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing, the outdoors, and fishing.
Joey especially loved his family and always looked forward to getting together with them at family gatherings. Joey was always willing to lend a helping hand and to go out of his way for others, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Joey is survived by his three children, Dion Godbout, Crystal Godbout and husband, Harry Richert, and Julian Godbout, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandson, Alexander Richert; parents, Gaston and Dorleen Godbout of Fort Frances, Ont.; four brothers, Vince Godbout and wife, Barbara, of Fort Frances, Ont., Jami Godbout and wife, Jackie, of Kenora, Ont., Richard Godbout and Laura Bradley of Fort Frances, Ont., and Rodney Godbout and wife, Jennifer, of Emo, Ont.; two sisters, Sherry Loveday and Mishelle Shaw of Emo, Ont.; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Ed Kosa O.M.I. officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.
Honourary pallbearers were Bruce Woodgate, Harry Zachozy, Ronald Beadle, Duane Gushulak, Vincent Godbout Jr., Nathan Godbout, Andy Badiuk, Kevin Hyatt, Richard McEvoy, and Doug McEvoy.
