Joseph James Brown 66 of St. Paul, Mn. and formerly of Rainy River First Nations, Ont. passed away at his residence on Wednesday, June 25, 2008.
Joseph was born on February 21, 1942 in Emo, Ont. to the late Charlie and Agnes Brown. He had worked as guide, pulpwood cutter and as a landscaper. He enjoyed fishing and playing cribbage and he loved the outdoors. He was a very quiet, simple man who would go along with everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Jr., and daughter, Andrea, both of Winnipeg, and his partner, Maxine Porter, and daughter, Crystal Porter, of Minneapolis.
Also surviving are his siblings, Emma (Ralph) Geyer and Gladys Brown, all of St. Paul, Mn. Rick (Angela) Brown of Eagen, Mn. Dean Brown of St. Paul, Mn.; grandchildren Christie and Skye Hunter and Andrew Kingbird; one great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Stanley, Howard, and Stephen; an infant brother Louis; sister, Lorraine; and granddaughter, Rachel.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Rainy River First Nations Gymnasium.
Reverend Mr. Bob Grynol officiated followed by interment in the Rainy River First Nations Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Al Hunter, Joe Hunter, Art Hunter, Gerry Hunter, Ben Brown Jr. and Josh Brown.
