JOSEPH ERNEST OVIDE LAROCQUE

Ovide Larocque, 58, of 818 Wright Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 1999 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Ovide was born May 31, 1940 in Pinewood, Ont. to the late “Tony” and “Sis” Larocque. He was raised in Pinewood until he moved with his family around 1950 to Snake Falls, Ont.
In 1956, they moved to Fort Frances, and on March 13, 1965, Ovide was united in marriage to Sharon Booth.
Together Ovide and Sharon settled in Atikokan, where he worked at the Steep Rock Mines. In 1966, they moved to Ear Falls, where Ovide worked in the local mines for four years before moving back to Fort Frances in 1970, where he drove truck for several years.
In 1976, Ovide worked for the local paper mill until his retirement in May, 1996.
He enjoyed machines, tinkering, fishing, and playing cards. Ovide also loved his family very much, and will be sadly missed by them all.
Ovide is survived by his wife, Sharon Larocque of Fort Frances, Ont.; three sons, Michael Larocque and Tim Magas of Winnipeg, Man., David Larocque and Shawnee of Fort Frances, Ont., and Allan Larocque and Stephanie of International Falls, Mn.; and three grandchildren, Ashley, Torey, and Gabriel Larocque.
Also surviving are eight brothers, Hylas Larocque and wife, Esther, Norman Larocque and wife, Carol, Jerry Larocque and wife, Bonnie, Roger Larocque and wife, Carole, all of Ear Falls, Ont., Ed Larocque and wife, Sharon, of Fort Frances, Danny Larocque and wife, Fran, of Hinton, Alta., and Emery Larocque and wife, Jenny, of Surrey, B.C.; two sisters, Sylvia McLellan and Fred Booth of Atikokan, Ont., and Gloria and husband, Terry Soderholm, of Fort Frances, Ont.; Armin Ducharme and wife, Marilyn, of Ear Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Ed Kosa O.M.I. officiated.
Honourary pallbearers were all those whose lives were touched by Ovide.
