JONATHAN “JON” MAINVILLE

It is with great sadness that the family of Jonathan “Jon” Mainville, 46, of Couchiching FN announces his sudden passing on September 27, 2025.

Jon was born October 6, 1978, in Fort Frances to the late Patricia Friday and the late Steven Mainville Sr. Jon was a kind and caring man who cared deeply for his family and friends. He was outgoing and had a great sense of humour, always doing his best to make everyone smile. That made him very silly with his attempts to cheer his family and friends up. He loved his nieces and nephews and did his best to be the greatest uncle he could be.

Jon enjoyed spending time watching the fights and playing card games with his siblings and friends. He was the life of the party! He loved spending his time outdoors while fishing and sitting around bonfires. Jon was a handyman, anyone could rely on him with any home improvements. He loved to travel and making new friends along the way. The kind of guy to give his shirt off his back for you and wore his heart on his sleeve.

He is predeceased by his mother Patricia Friday; his father Steven Mainville Sr.; siblings Tanya Mainville, Rudy Mainville and Curtis Mainville; maternal grandparents Jessie and Bud Friday; paternal grandparents Hector and Mary Mainville; maternal aunties Valarie and Charlene Friday; paternal uncles Herman, Willard and Vernon Mainville; and paternal aunties Nora, Donalda and Mary Jane Mainville.

He leaves behind his brother Steve Mainville Jr. (Hilary), and sisters Helen Cup, Brenda Friday, Michelle Mainville, Lori Mainville and Patti Mainville.

Active pallbearers are to be determined.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces Kenny, Madison and Isabella Mainville, Vanessa Mainville, Cailynn Bruyere, Piers Friday, Nephews Donovan, Patrick and Seth Cupp.

A wake will be held at Couchiching First Nation Multi-use Facility on Wednesday, October 8 from 5:00 p.m. with funeral service on Thursday, October 9 at 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
