It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Curtis, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed, away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born May 21, 1936 in Emo, Ont. to Jonathan and Jean Curtis.
Jack was the eldest of eight children and worked for the family business, J. Curtis & Sons, where he was known as an excellent heavy-equipment operator.
Jack spent his life living and doing what he enjoyed, playing baseball and hockey, as well as spending time at the cabin on Clearwater Lake, fishing, and ice-fishing.
Jack leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 54 years, Gwen (nee Kellar). He also was a devoted father to Glenda (David) Lloyd, Brian (Patty) Curtis, and Brad (Jane) Curtis.
He is lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Jon Lloyd, David (Sage) Lloyd, Tara (Mark) McGarvey, Kailey and Dylan Curtis, and Rhiannon and Josh Curtis; as well as five great-grandchildren.
Jack also is survived by his brothers and sisters, Jill (Al) Kellar, Sydney (Mary) Curtis, Marilyn (Ted) Stauch, Sharron (Roger) Haney, Garry Curtis, Frank (Cheryl) Curtis, and Delmer Curtis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jonathan and Jean Curtis.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in Emo Cemetery at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be his brothers and grandchildren.
