JONATHAN CURTIS

Jonathan Curtis, 90, of Emo, Ont., passed away at his residence Monday, Dec. 8, 2003. He was born June 14, 1913 in Stevington, England to the late John and Sarah Curtis.
Jonathan immigrated to Canada in 1929 and settled in Rainy River District. He was self-employed as a trucker and a logger in the district. He also had worked on the Alaskan Highway, and worked out west in Manitoba and Saskatchewan during harvest time.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid sports fan, especially watching hockey and baseball. He was a member of Knox United Church in Emo.
Jonathan was united in marriage July 3, 1935 to the former Jean Campbell, who survives along with their children, Jack (Gwen) Curtis, Jill (Al) Kellar, and Syd (Mary) Curtis, all of Emo, Ont., Marilyn (Ted) Stauch of Calgary, Alta., Sharron (Roger) Haney of Thunder Bay, Ont., Garry (Kelly) Curtis of Clearwater, B.C., and Frank (Cheryl) Curtis and Delmer Curtis, all of Emo, Ont.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Wilson of Auburn, Wash., and Connie Strable of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Sarah; brothers, Walter, Fred, Sid, Charles, and Frank; and sister, Bea.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, with Rev. Eileen Bragg officiating.
Interment will take place in the Emo Cemetery at a later date.
Pallbearers were Brad Curtis, Garry Curtis, Brian Curtis, Grant Kellar, Corey Curtis, Roger Haney, and Robbie Kellar.
Honourary pallbearers were Bill Mosbeck, Gerald Lougheed, Dale Strachan, Carl Cates, Rod McDonald, Alex Wilson, Don Foster Sr., and Bill Baranowski.
