It is with profound sadness that the family of John Victor Fedoruk announces his passing on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
John was born in Fort Frances on May 24, 1928, to Samuel and Lucy Fedoruk. He left school at the age of 16 and joined the local paper mill. He worked there for 44 years, retiring in 1988 as a foreman in the finishing room. He was married to Cassie Paton on May 17, 1952, and together they built a beautiful life. They raised two children, Bob and Diane; built a cabin on Burnt Island and traveled extensively. The cabin drew family and friends from far and wide in the summers, they entertained endlessly. John enjoyed fishing and looked forward to his annual fall moose hunting trip with the “guys.” John was a perfectionist when it came to refinishing cupboards and antique furniture. He joined Cassie on a school trip and was bit by the traveling bug. They travelled in the summers, exploring Europe, Spain and the Mediterranean. After they retired they wintered in Florida, taking trips into Mexico and many cruises.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Cassie; son Bob (Penny); daughter Diane and husband Randy White; grandchildren Dana White (Alex) and Brian White and wife Teagan; great-grandchildren Chase and Chael Bruyere; Max and Bodie White; sister Mae Fedoruk; sisters-in-law Esther Fedoruk and Mona McTaggart; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Lucy; in-laws John and Annie Paton; sister Lena and husband Lindy Wallen; and brother William “Sambo” Fedoruk.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a family graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery with Father Gino Mathias officiating.
