John Solaryk, in his 86th year, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at the Scarborough General Hospital in Scarborough, Ont. following a brief illness.
Born to Mike and Dora Solaryk on May 12, 1923 in Fort Frances, Ont., John resided there until joining the army in WW II, where he was a proud member of the Hastings & Prince Edward Regiment (1st Brigade), 1st Infantry Division.
John served in Italy and northwest Europe.
He married Agnes (Pupeza) in Toronto, Ont. in 1956, who survives him, along with their children, Deborah Solaryk of Oakville, Ont. and Allan Solaryk of Aurora, Ont.; and his two grandchildren.
He was the brother of Sam, Nettie, and the late Elizabeth and Billy.
John had an incredible passion for interacting with people, as well as for his hobbies of boxing and lifeling love of art. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at the Pine Hills Chapel
and Cemetary inn Scarborough.
