JOHN LAWRENCE “LARRY” MCCOY

The family of John Lawrence “Larry” McCoy, sadly announce, his peaceful and unexpected passing on March 2, 2026.

He was surrounded by his loving family, most importantly his three granddaughters whom he loved immensely and was so very proud.

Larry was fortunate to establish a multi-decade career as a Chartered Life Underwriter and Certified Financial Planner. He loved his clients and poured his heart and soul into ensuring they received the best products available with exceptional customer service. He believed in volunteering for his community and was a proud past member of the Jaycee’s, Big Brothers and donated blood 50 times.

As Larry loved being at the cabin in Bears Passage, hardly a weekend, in all seasons, was missed since the property was acquired in 1975.

After building the cabin, it was clearly evident that it was truly his “happy place.” Days were filled with activities he enjoyed the most: boating, waterskiing, fishing, ski-dooing, cutting wood, building fires in the wood stove, playing cards, hiking the surrounding bush and going to the beach with his family.

Larry was well known for his admiration of the German Shepherd dog. He embraced over 50 years of German Shepherds with each one holding a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marilyn (nee Cuthbertson); his three children Melanie (Bob), Corey (Kim) and Lauren; as well as his three granddaughters Rachael, Courtney and Kinsley. He is also survived by his sister JoAnn DeGagne and her family.

Larry was predeceased by father Walter, mother Ruby and infant daughter Stacy; as well as mother-in-law Jean Hoffman.

As per Larry’s wishes there will be no service after cremation. His family will have a private dedication in the summer. If friends or family desire, donations in Larry’s memory may be made to a charity of your choosing.

Arrangements entrusted to Northridge Funeral Home Ltd., Emo, Ontario.
