The family of John Jergen Mosley, 71, is sad to announce that he passed away quickly on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at his home in Atikokan, Ont.
John is survived by his daughter, Kiersten Mosley and granddaughter, Emma; daughter, Suzanne Chaval (Karl) and granddaughter, Abigail; and his loving ex-wife, Brigitte Mosley.
He also is survived by his brothers, Harold (Phyllis), Eric, Jim (Shirley), and Lorne; sister, Judy Qualie (the late Al); many nieces and nephews and their children, as well as a large extended family.
John was predeceased by his parents, Phoebe and Jergen Mosley; mother- and father-in-law, Hilda and Helmut Purrucker; and niece, Krysta Mosley.
John had many different and exciting jobs in his career, but he was most proud to be a member of the Thunder Bay Professional Firefighters’ Association for 20 years.
In his retirement, he moved to Atikokan, where he enjoyed spending time with his family, his uncle, Glen Armstrong, and his brother and best friend, Jim.
John was an outdoorsman at heart and loved fishing, hunting, and being in the bush. But most of all, he lit up at just the thought of his grandbabies.
Big John, as he was known to many, had a huge heart and was the most honest and upfront person you could ever meet. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
Dad, I thank you for all the things you taught me. You were a knowledgeable and straightforward man with a good heart and you lived life the way you wanted.
I am grateful that you met your granddaughters and I know they meant the world to you. Please watch over them. Love you always—Kiersten xo
Dad, you were my best friend and taught me how to play hockey, shoot a gun, run a table saw, and land a fish. But most of all, you showed me how to be an amazing parent.
You will always be a part of me—Zan
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held, as per his wishes, in the spring of 2015.
If friends and family desire, in lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
