JOHN (JACK) CHARLES GEORGE JACKWAY

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing on Sunday, June 16, 2013, his birthday and Father’s Day, of John (Jack) Charles George Jackway, 84, of Fort Frances, Ont.
Dad was born in Fort Frances and enjoyed growing up in the west end. He shared many fond memories of his dad’s garden, the Rainy River, and his childhood friends.
In 1958, in Sioux Narrows, Ont., he met the love of his life, Anne Dyck. They were married April 11, 1959 in Kenora, Ont and together they raised two children.
Dad enjoyed his many years as bartender at the Rainy Lake Hotel, where he met many lifelong friends. In retirement, he loved to spend time with his family and especially his grandchildren, whom he took great pride in.
Dad is survived by his children, Wanda Norton and Bentley (Lana) Jackway; and sisters, Daisy McInnis, Shannon Jackway, and Esther Hicks.
He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kristopher Jackway, and Ashlee and John Norton; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves to mourn his special daughter, “Kimmie.”
Dad was predeceased by his wife, Anne; father, William Jackway; mother, Daisy Haas; brother, Robert (Bob) Jackway; sister, Helen McGowan; and brother-in-law, James (Jim) McInnis.
As per Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
Out of the blue and into the black
You pay for this, but they give you that
And once you’re gone, you can’t come back
When you’re out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he’s not forgotten
Is this the story of johnny rotten?
It’s better to burn out ’cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone but he’s not forgotten.

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There’s more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
