JOHN ELLARD IRVIN TEEPLE

Ellard Teeple, 77, of Blackhawk, Ont., passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999 at the Emo Hospital in Emo, Ont. He was born Nov. 25, 1921 in Gratton Township, Ont. to the late Irvin and Beatrice Teeple.
Ellard moved to the Rainy River District with his family in 1931. As a young teen, he worked for various farmers in the Emo and Barwick area for a few years.
On April 28, 1943, he was united in marriage to the former Helen McMillan.
Ellard drove truck for various people until 1949, at which time he purchased his own truck. In 1955, he retired from trucking and began dairy farming in Blackhawk until 1972 when he started beef farming.
Ellard served on the Chapple municipal council from the 1960s until the early 1980s. He also served on the District Dairy Producers’ Milk Committee and the Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association.
Following his retirement from farming, he began travelling with his wife, Helen. Ellard also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and visiting with neighbours and friends during his retirement years.
Ellard was predeceased by his wife, Helen, on Sept. 21, 1996.
Ellard is survived by his eight children, James Teeple and wife, Alwine, of Blackhawk, Ont., Irene and husband, Wayne Johnson Sr., of Nestor Falls, Robert Teeple and wife, Ruth, of Chapple Township, Alice and husband, Raynard Croswell, and Allan Teeple and wife, Shirley, all of Emo, Ont., Doug Teeple and wife, Vesta, of Blackhawk, Ont., Gary Teeple and wife, Lisa, of Emo, Ont., and Maxine and husband, Joe Irvine, of Stratton, Ont.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hilda and husband, George Hebert, of Brandon, Man., and Nellie McGovern of Thunder Bay, Ont.; one brother, Albert Teeple and wife, Sue, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the Barwick Hall in Barwick, Ont., with Rev. Frances Flook officiating.
Interment will take place in the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick.
Honourary pallbearers will be all of Ellard’s grandchildren.
