It is with great sadness that the family of John Edward Bradley announces his passing on Thursday, December 16, 2021, in Fort Frances, Ont.
John was born on February 19, 1940, in Kincardine, Ontario, to Karl and Iolene Bradley. He grew up around Kincardine. He had a difficult childhood, overcoming many hardships that forged a strong work ethic, a strong bond with his brother William and a strong desire to provide a loving home for his family. He was united in marriage to Doris Robertson on November 29, 1963. While they were in Eastern Ontario he worked for a glass factory and building homes. He came to Fort Frances in the early 1970’s to work and his young family followed shortly afterwards. He found work as a process server, worked his way into clerk of the small claims court and eventually became Sheriff. He was the last serving Sheriff in the Rainy River District when he retired after 35 years of service. After retirement he worked for Voyageur Panel at the weigh scales and worked for Halcom, escorting the CN Crews. He loved to be surrounded by family and friends. He spent endless hours with his grandchildren and weekly coffee dates with his friends. He also took up woodworking a few years ago and made hundreds of birdhouses. He also served in the community in various roles and received his brown belt/black tip in Taekwondo.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Doris; daughters Laura and husband Richard Godbout and Lois Bradley; grandchildren Carissa and husband Mas Zargarizabi; Jonathan Chad Dustak and Cole Richard Godbout (Kendall); great-grandchildren Taytum, Boden, Avalee, Matias, Brenton and Owen; brother William and wife Carol; nieces and nephews Julia, Melissa, Ian and their families.
John was predeceased by his parents and great-grandson Noah.
Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family gathering will be held.
