John Sevenhouse, 99, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 1998 at his residence.
John was born July 4, 1898 in Phoenix, Ill. to the late Henry and Annie Sevenhouse. He moved to Burriss, Ont. in 1931, where he met Ruth Wilson and, on April 29, 1931, they were united in marriage. In 1937, they moved to Fort Frances, where John was employed at the local paper mill for 29 years before his retirement in 1966.
John was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Church, and served as the secretary for the church for 15 years. He enjoyed playing the accordion and organ, singing, the outdoors, gardening, reading, and especially spending time with family and friends.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Henry and Leonard; and five sisters, Jan, Clara, Mary, Martha, and Anne.
John is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Ruth Sevenhouse, of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughter, Marlene and husband, William Fedan, of High Prairie, Alta.; grandson, Wayne Fedan and wife, Kathy, of Grande Prairie, Alta.; two granddaughters, Lori Ann Fedan of Kamloops, B.C., and Brenda and husband, Steven Dafoe, of Fort St. John, B.C.; two great-grandchildren, Darcy and Tammara Fedan of Grand Prairie, Alta.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Pastor Stephen Laing officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends visited Monday, April 27, 1998 from 7-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Pallbearers were Don Redford, David Craven, David Woodgate, Rodney Woodgate, Allan Pattison, and Harold Herrem.
