JOHN C. BUTLER

John C. Butler, 62, of Brazil, Ind., passed away suddenly on Sept. 13, 2000 at Nestor Falls, Ont. in a boating accident.
Born Nov. 9, 1937, in Brazil, he was the son of Lochel and Esther Woollard Butler. He graduated Van Buren High School in 1955. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and, in 1960, received his Master’s.
A teacher and coach at Van Buren from 1960-1967, he spent most his life farming with Butler Farms.
He was an active member in the Presbyterian Church in Brazil, and served as an elder and on the session board. He was a member of the Elk’s Club, the Masons of Knightsville, and Ducks Unlimited.
John loved fishing, hunting, and spending summer months in Nestor Falls at his cabin that he and his father built when he was 12 years old.
He was predeceased by his father; and a sister, Ann Butler Tillotson.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Bedwell Butler; his mother of Greencastle; one son, J.C. and wife Helen Butler, of Cleveland; two daughters, Jana and husband Jon Becker, of Greencastle, and Jennifer Butler and friend Andy Henke, of Evansville; four grandchildren, Luke Jason Becker, Clark John Becker, Clara Rankin Butler, and Griffin Bedwell Butler; and a large extended family.
Memorial services are pending at the Nestor Falls Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Nestor Falls Lions Club/Bass Lake Project.
