Jim Sawka

It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Sawka announce his passing Friday, March 23, 2001 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He leaves behind his wife, Gloria; children, James and Nicole, both of Fort Frances, Ont., and Tim and Blaine, both of Winnipeg, Man.; stepchildren, Juliane Good and Sean Good, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Ross Good of Edmonton, Alta.; and grandchildren, Tyler Good, Dustin Good, Jacob Perusse, and Tristan Good.
Also surviving are sisters, Sonja (Rene) Vinet of Swan River, Man., and Elsie (Keith) Fitzpatrick of Winnipeg, Man.; and brother, Nestor (Cathy) of Winnipeg, Man.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, John and Nellie Sawka; sister, Sylvia; and brother, Eddie.
Jim was born Dec. 16, 1947 in Vita, Man. to John and Nellie Sawka. He worked in the local paper mill for many years before retiring due to failing health. Jim also worked as a financial secretary with the local U.P.I.U. for many years.
Jim was very much a people person, and could be found visiting and talking with everyone he came across. His greatest joy in life came from the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He loved curling, playing cards, deer hunting, feeding the birds, flowers, and plants.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Allan Bedard and Deacon Bill Adair officiating.
Interment will take place in Caliento, Man. at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers will be Scott McPherson, Fred Grozelle, Norris Piccinato, Darcy Oliver, Ron Mondor, Brent Chapman, Frank Ball, Jack Gray, and Gary Swire.
