It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, and sister, Jessie Ottoson, on her birthday on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
Jessie was born Feb. 20, 1916 in Fairlight, Sask. to the late Allan McDougall and Adelaide Florence Hamilton.
She had lived in Finland, Ont. and later moved to Fort Frances in 1949, where she had lived since.
She was a past member of the McIrvine Women’s Institute and the La Verendrye General Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to help others and would give the shirt off her back to help those in need.
She also was a foster parent to many children in the district.
As well, she enjoyed spending time at the Sister Kennedy Centre participating in the various activities with her many friends. In her earlier years, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Left to cherish her memory is her four children, Allan of Upsala, Ont., Fred (Diane) of Thunder Bay, Ont., Elmer (Yvonne) of Matheson, Ont., and Jim ( Judy) of Nestor Falls, Ont.
She also will be missed dearly by her grandchildren, Joanne, Donna, Allan, and Teddy, and their mother, Carol, Michael, Tony, and Julian, and their mother, Sharon, Carrie, Robert and Wendy, Blair, and Lori; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy McDougall of Toronto, Ont.; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Carl Ottoson, on Dec. 25, 1982; her parents, Allan and Adelaide McDougall; her step-father, Hank Dunbar; and her daughter-in-law, Linda.
At Jessie’s request, there will be no service.
Interment will take in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances beside her husband, Oscar, at a later date.
