Jerry Wodell, 58, of 241 Elizabeth St. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly Sunday, July 15, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born Aug. 24, 1942 in Fort Frances and had lived here most of his life. Jerry had worked as a broadband technician for 18 years at Bell Canada.
On Dec. 6, 1968, he was united in marriage to the former June Socholotuk.
Jerry was very active in the community, and was a member of the International Order of Oddfellows Cascade Lodge #351, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and his family was his life.
He was predeceased by his mother, Mary Wodell in 1981; one brother, Kenny Wodell, and his great-grandparents, Katherine and William Wodell.
Jerry is survived by his wife, June Wodell of Fort Frances, Ont.; one son, Kyle Wodell and wife, Yvonne, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; one daughter, Michelle Stevenson; four grandchildren, Brandon, Stephen, Christopher, and Kylee June; and his father, Mike Wodell of Fort Frances, Ont.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Father Eugene Whyte O.M.I. officiating.
Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Parish prayers will be offered Wednesday, July 18, 2001 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church led by the Knights of Columbus.
Honourary pallbearers will be Albert Lauzon, Stan Hammond, Ellis Williams, Ron Sinclair, Tony Vanderaa, and Bud Dyrland.
