Jenny Opheim Williams, 84, of Lac La Croix First Nation, Ont., passed away Monday, July 9, 2001 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Jenny was born Dec. 25, 1916 in Basswood Lake, Mn. to the late Jack Kingfisher and Nora Pete John. She lived at Lac La Croix First Nation most of her life.
She was united in marriage to Edward Opheim Williams, who predeceased her in the 1990s.
For several years, Jenny had worked for Campbell’s Cabins and Zup’s Resort until her retirement in the 1980s. During the winters, she enjoyed trapping.
Jenny will be missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by one brother, Billy LaBott; and two sisters, Liz Ottertail and Annie Ottertail.
Jenny is survived by her three sisters, Mary Jourdain, and Clara and husband, George Ottertail, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Helen Geyshick of Lac La Croix First Nation, Ont.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A traditional burial service was held Friday, July 13, 2001 in the morning at the family residence at Lac La Croix First Nation. Elder Jim Boshkaykin officiated, with burial in Lac La Croix First Nation Cemetery.
A wake was held Thursday evening at the family residence at Lac La Croix First Nation.
