Jean Pearson, 91, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
Jean was born August 25, 1930, in Fort Frances to Nina and Harold Matthews.
On September 8, 1950, she married the love of her life, Sig Pearson. They had four children, Debbie, Cathy, Patti and Doug.
After graduating from the RNA program, Jean began working at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in the 1970’s and retired in the late 1980’s.
Jean had many hobbies which included bowling, curling, cross-country skiing and walking along the riverfront. Jean and Sig loved spending time at the cabin with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who encountered her positive and caring demeanour.
Jean is survived by daughters Cathy (Gerry) Wilson and Patti Pearson; and son Doug Pearson; her grandchildren Kari-Lynn (Shane) Beckett, Shauna-Leigh Carlson (Armand Jourdain), Mandy (Greg) Hammer, Travis (Corrine) Carlson, Jaime (Dave) Brotherston, Jeremy Wilson, and Ashley (Austin) Helie; eight great-grandsons Ethan, Logan, Hayden, Corbin, Sawyer, Danton, Max and Colt; and five great granddaughters Morgan, Peyton, Lucy, Violet and Calla.
She is also survived by her son-in-law Gerald Carlson; by sisters-in-law Evelyn and Eldyne Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents Nina and Harold Matthews; brothers Don and Larry Matthews; daughter Debbie Carlson.
Cremation will take place at the Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Minn. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
The honourary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, and special friends.
