JEAN KATHERINE ANN PETERSON

Jean Katherine Ann Peterson, of International Falls, Mn., passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, Feb. 12, 2009 at her home surrounded by family.
Jean Blake was born March 15, 1935 in Fort Frances, Ont. She was a graduate of the Class of ’56 from Port Arthur General Hospital School of Nursing in Thunder Bay, Ont. and moved to International Falls in 1960.
Jean was united in marriage to Phillip Peterson on Oct. 22, 1960 at Knox United Church in Fort Frances. She worked as a nurse at La Verendrye General Hospital and retired in July, 2000 after 44 years of service.
She enjoyed her home on Rainy Lake and spending time at the cabin with her family, friends, and grandchildren. Jean also loved music, and attended the Border Concert Series and “tour de Fort.”
She was an active member of the Faith United Church and of her birthday club. She also was a volunteer with the local respite care, enjoyed visiting at the nursing home, and had a great love for animals and all nature. She was an eternal caregiver.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Peterson; and parents, Nunnick Peter and Mary Ruth (Sullivan) Blake.
Jean is survived by her son, Blake (Beth) Peterson of International Falls, Mn.; daughters, Janice (Brad) Carlson of Fort Frances, Ont. and Nancy Peterson of International Falls, Mn.; and grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Peterson, Jonathan and Courtney Carlson, and Abbey and Hillary Fox.
Memorial services will be held Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in International Falls.
