Jean Bruyere, 71, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Jean was born Aug. 1, 1935 and raised on Couchiching First Nation. At the age of 65, she retired from the Fort Frances Courthouse. Prior to that, she had worked at Boise Cascade in International Falls, Mn.
In her younger years, she enjoyed working in the area tourist camps. She also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren, going to pow-wows, travelling with friends, and playing the guitar.
She also was very talented with her crafts, and well-known to enjoy the “odd” bingo game.
She is survived by her children, Wayne Bruyere (Julie Kucesa), Sheila McMahon, Barb McMahon (Bruce Hambleton), Noella Mandamin (Darrell), and Steven Bruyere; grandchildren, Ryan McMahon (Maryann Flett), Charity McMahon (Danny Maclam), Erin McMahon, Terry McMahon, Joshua McMahon, Jason Bruyere, Cameron Bruyere, Tylen Bruyere, Shaye Bruyere, Pamela Garguilo (Rocky), and Gilles DeGagne; and great-grandchildren, Brodie McMahon, Ella Jean Flett McMahon, Jane Flett McMahon, Abigail Maclam, Aislynn Garguilo, and Logan Garguilo.
Also surviving are her brothers, Patrick Perrault (Lillian), Larry Perrault (Edith), and Leonard Perrault; sister, Dorothy Cargill; lifelong friend/cousin, Loretta Pierson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ansel and Veronica Perrault; son, Danny Olson; sisters, Mary Jourdain and Priscilla Howells; and brothers, Martin Perrault, Gilbert Perrault, Wilbert Perrault, William (Mutto) Guimond, Louis Perrault, and Emmerick Perrault.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching First Nation, with Fr. Paul Moonjelly officiating.
The pallbearers will be Ryan McMahon, Terry McMahon, Cameron Bruyere, Jason Bruyere, Josh McMahon, and Gilles DeGagne.
The honourary pallbearers will be Loretta Pierson, Florence Yerxa, Diane Morrison, Ellen Lennix, and her numerous friends.
