With great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Jason Yerxa, 50, of Big Island First Nation on March 5, 2025, at the Rainy River Hospital.
Jason was born in Fort Frances on September 7, 1974, to parents Margaret and Wayne Yerxa. He grew up in the communities of Fort Frances, Brandon, Winnipeg and Big Island First Nation. Jason enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, reading and writing books and he was a devote Montreal Canadians fan.
He will be greatly missed by his mother Margaret; his siblings Darlene Gibbins and Kevin Yerxa; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Jason was predeceased by his father Wayne; his siblings Cynthia, Jessica, Jennifer and Dwayne Yerxa.
A traditional wake was held on Friday, March 14, at 4:00 p.m. at Big Island Round House with a traditional service on Saturday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. Interment took place on Big Island First Nation.
