Adams, Janis

Janis Lynne Adams passed away quietly on Dec. 26, 2019 at the LaVerendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, ON. Jan’s life long best friend, Gayle (Marshall) Ikola, was with her at the time of her passing.
Jan was born on April 22, 1950 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Ken and Betty Newman. In 1958 her family moved to Radisson, SK. and then in 1963, to Fort Frances.
Jan married Terry Adams in 1970 and they made their home on Couchiching FN. She worked for the Couchiching Education Department for most of her life. After retiring, she and Terry started a small catering company as she loved to bake and cook. Jan carried on with this small business until the spring of 2019.
Jan always loved being on and around the lake. She and Terry enjoyed many years of camping and fishing with family and friends. After catching their limits, superb fish frys with baked beans, bannock and wild rice casserole proved very popular for family gatherings and weddings as well as annual trips back to Saskatchewan.
Jan was a busy lady but she always had time for anyone that stopped by to see her. With all that said, the most important people in her life were her immediate family and, as many grandparents will testify to, her grandchildren, Bobby and Bella. She also showed her love to her nieces and nephews and their children as well as Telly and Taylor Perrault. Jan was a caregiver.
Jan was predeceased by her husband Terry; her parents, Ken and Betty Newman; her parents in law, Percy and Ethel Adams; sister in law Sandy Calder; and nephew Terry (Zee) Adams. She leaves to mourn her children, Rich and Rob; as well as her daughter-in-law Venus and her two grandchildren, Bobby and Bella.
Jan also leaves to mourn her brothers Rod, Jim (Penny) and sister Joyce Byrnes (Tom) as well as their families; her brothers-in-law Rick, Cubby (Heike), Al (Corrine); sister-in-law Debbie and their families.
Also left to mourn are Jan’s extended family in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Jan had a great circle of friends who supported her throughout her cancer illness. Their love and dedication to Jan was unwavering.
A small gathering for immediate family and friends will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire, In Memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
