Janet Leola Cooper, 60, of Fort Frances, Ont., pased away Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ont. after a lengthy illness.
A memorial breakfast was held by her immediate family at the Finnish Hoito Restaurant in Thunder Bay.
Janet was born Aug. 14, 1948 in Littlefork, Mn. to Toby and Rene Lattu. She attended school in Littlefork and obtained her degree in criminal justice from Bemidji State University.
Janet held various positions, and was a past director with the Sunrise Center for Sexual Assault in the International Falls and Fort Frances areas.
Janet enjoyed crocheting, reading, flower gardening, having coffee on her deck, and spending time on the lake with her family at the LeClaire cabin.
Janet was predeceased by her parents; one son, Craig Anderson; and stepson, Bobby Cooper.
Janet is survived by her husband, Jack, of Fort Frances, Ont.; son, Scott (Marie) Anderson of Colfax, Wis.; daughter, Jana (Chris) LeClaire of Rockford, Mn.; stepchildren, Kathy Cooper of Fort Frances, Ont. and Tommy Cooper of Thunder Bay, Ont.; and grandchild, Jackson LeClaire.
Also surviving are her sister, Emmi Lattu of International Falls, Mn.; brother, Jon (Ruth) Lattu of Littlefork, Mn; nephew, Spicer Lattu of Fargo, N.D., and special family friend, Gail Costley.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the Green-Larsen Mortuary Chapel in International Falls.
Following the service, there will be visitation with coffee and doughnuts–Jan’s favourite food–at the Green-Larsen Mortuary Chapel.
Interment will be in the Oakley Cemetery in Littlefork, Mn. at a later date.
