JANET LARSON

Larson, Janet

It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Larson announces her sudden passing on Monday, December 7, 2020 at her home in Rainy River, Ont.

Janet was born on February 15, 1949 in Rainy River to Alexander and Katherine Gibbins. She grew up in Big Island First Nation. As a young woman she spent her summers working for camps including Grassy Narrows and Obabikon Bay. She spent her winters with family and friends. She loved to read, cook and play cards. She enjoyed fishing and could be heard all over the lake when she reeled in her catch. Janet loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could. She had a beautiful singing voice and was often overheard singing hymns and gospel music. With a bit of luck you could be treated to song when she thought she was alone.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Lawrence; children Bev Thunder, Curtis Thunder (Cheryl), Kari Larson (Joe Dobransky), Sandy Hammond (James) and Allan Gibbins; stepchildren Len Larson, Brian Larson (Michelle), Steve Larson (Kim) and Leanne Larson (Jason); grandchildren Tyler, Michael, Joey, Caitlynn, Frank, Kylie and Kevin Thunder, Kassandra, Amy and Ben Dobransky, Dennis and Corinna Larson, Travis and Cole Ferris and Brook Nelson; great-grandchildren Carter, Amara, Isabelle, Dax, Thomas, Adielle, Elayne and Nova Lee; siblings Lennie Gibbins and Diane (Brian) Major; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Katherine Gibbins; and siblings Gladys, Harry, James, Alexander Jr., Michael, Clifford, Johnny, Lawrence, Joseph Gibbins, Katherine Jensson, Rita Andy and Matilda Gibbins.

A visitation was held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Morson Community Bible Fellowship Church. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Morson Community Bible Fellowship Church with interment in the Bergland Cemetery.
