It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Jane Ottertail, 83, of Lac La Croix First Nation on March 5, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on July 29, 1942, to parents John and Doris Whitefish.
Jane loved spending time with family and friends and she enjoyed singing Karaoke. She was very humble person with a great sense of humour. She loved to make people laugh. She enjoyed cooking both traditional and non-traditional meals.
She will be greatly missed by her children Ralph Jr, Dawn, Cory, Chris, Crystal and her grandchildren Aaliyah and Sydney. Jane is also survived by her siblings Clifford, Wayne (Beatrice), Douglas, Sheila (Jerry) and numerous extended families.
Jane was predeceased by her parents John and Doris; her husband Ralph Sr.; her children Darren and Troy and her siblings Elmer, James, Beatrice, Rita, Thomas and Norman.
A traditional wake was held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 4 p.m. from the Lac La Croix Gym, followed by a traditional service on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Elder Gilbert Smith officiating.
