James Stuart (Jim) McInnis, 84, of 318 Third St. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Jim was born June 4, 1928 in Emo, Ont. to the late James Sr. and Eda McInnis. In his younger years, Jim loved motorcycling.
On Nov. 29, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Daisy Jackway.
Jim worked as a tinsmith at the pulp and paper mill for 45 years, retiring in 1992. For many years, he enjoyed operating his CB radio with friends and all those friends he met.
He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29 in Fort Frances. He also was well-known in the community for the snowman he would make in the west end of Fort Frances.
Jim had a passion for gardening at home, and fishing and hunting with his family and friends during the seasons. Jim and Daisy also loved travelling throughout the United States and Canada whenever they could.
At home, he had a great fondness for his cats.
Jim and Daisy just recently had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and pets.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Daisy McInnis of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughters, Linda (Garry) Kruger of Upsala, Ont. and Patti (Don) Roth of Fort Frances, Ont.; granddaughter, Christina (Gerald) Harris; grandsons, Trevor Kruger and Randy Roth; and great-granddaughters, Mikyla, Madison, and Meagan Harris.
He also is survived by one sister, Josephine (John) McCuaig; nephews, Derick McCauig, and Jim and George Chabot; nieces, Barbara Ann Daniels and Cheryl Lynn McCuaig; and other nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by one sister, Annabell (Ferand) Chabot; and one great-grandson, Joshua Harris.
At Jim’s request, a private family graveside service will take place at a later date at Fort Frances Cemetery, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating.
