It is with love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of James Maxwell MacDonald on Sunday, May 21, 2006. Jim was 68 when his journey of life ended peacefully with his loving wife at his side at their home in Rainy River, Ont.
Jim was born July 19, 1937 in Worthington Township, Ont. to William (Bill) and Minnie MacDonald. He worked as an engineer with Canadian National Rail for 38 years, retiring in 1993.
He was member the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
James was united in marriage to Lorraine Cyr on July 9, 1988.
Jim enjoyed the simple things in life. He was “Mr. Fix-it.” He enjoyed being outdoors tending to his yard and woodwork. He was a real family man who enjoyed every moment he had with his children, grandchildren, family members, and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorraine; son, Brent MacDonald (Angel) and their children, Cody, Hailey, and Nicole of Winnipeg, Man.; stepchildren, Ed (Sue) Cyr and his children, Jason and Jody, of Winnipeg, Man., Debbie (Tom) Babijowski and their children, Angie and Stephen, of Sparwood, B.C., Sandy (Les) Holmberg and daughter, Jennifer, of Winnipeg, Man., Glen Cyr of Winnipeg, Man., Brad Cyr of Winnipeg, Man., and his children, Michael, Amanda, and Lisa of Rainy River, Ont., and Jim Cyr of Rainy River, Ont. and his son, Christopher, of Calgary, Alta.
Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Brett, Ashlee, Tyler, Kailey, Chelsea, Megan, Austin, and Sierra; brother, Cameron (Sherri) of Cardston, Alta.; sisters, Florence (Mel) Watson of Fort Frances, Ont., Shirley Halverson of Atikokan, Ont., Evelyn Crawford of Kenora, Ont., and Verna Stephenson of Yorkton, Sask.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Bill MacDonald.
Cremation took place in Thunder Bay, Ont.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bergland, Ont.
Jim was laid to rest with his Father in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River, Ont.
The honourary pallbearers were James’ family and friends.
